Feeding The Poor On The Street

Last Saturday, 8 October 2011 me and my family had successfully feed 50 poor people near the Godness of Mercy Temple (next to Chinese Town Hall). Finally, I have the courage to cook for 50 pax with my hands. Off course I got some helps from my youngest sister and hubby.

You can always see some poor folks sitting there.

Some simple food. Yong Tau fu with Mixed vegetables fried with Chicken. Apart from that, they are also served with Corn & Carrot Soup.

Busy packing.

All are done. Rice, soup, water and cakes. All these are ready to be distribute.

If any of you wish to feed the poor on the street, please bear in mind - NO PORK. We have to respect one another culture.

My 7 years old son love to draw so much and I decided to start off a blog for him. An artist who is also his teacher encouraged me to create a blog for him to keep all his art.

Delwin, started to draw when he is about 3+ with some guidance from hubby. Slowly, he love drawing so much. Initially, we buy him reams and reams of A4 papers from the bookshops. Sometimes, he will use about 4 - 5 reams of papers per month. Then, we have to find ways to cut down his usage. So, we decided to cut the A4 paper into half because there are times he only draw an animal and he will not use the empty place. Wherever we go, we will bring paper and pen along coz he will draw when we are not doing anything. Now, my 5 years old daughter is being influence by him. She is not a born artist but rather a follower. She just want to join in the fun with the big brother.

Does he look like an artist? Aiyoh!!! Mum & Dad also confuse liau. But, we want to motivate him. It may be a way for him to release his tention and it might be his hobby. Who knows, he will use his skill for something in the future. Everyone have got a way to release their tention, right?

She loves to draw because of her big brother. Whenever the brother is drawing, she will also ask for pen and paper to join in the fun. To be fair, we also send her for art class. Yes, both of them are under the guidance of an artist.

Hainanese Chefs

A few regular customers pop by over at my shop today and we chatting on some cooking stuff. Yup, customers sometimes drop by and they bring over some food to share with me. How nice!!! Now you know, why I love my job so much. Hahaha......................... We were talking about how chefs works and some of the tips that we got from the chefs which work so great. Suddenly, a lady say this "normally a Hainanase Chef will not share alot". I gave her a smile and everyone start to agree. Being a 25%Hainanese I do not have any comment. Have you ever see a Hainanese cookbook in any bookshop before, do you? I am not too sure are all Hainanese Chef are like that - selfish in passing on their recipes.

What do you think? Are Hainanese Chefs selfish???

Finally, I had come out from my shell. After mum had pass away, I always feel so lazy to do things. Am I giving an excuse? Initially, I wanted to put a stop in writing blog but there were so much motivation from friends and hubby. Partly, I also like to 'kepo'. So, I will begin to write again.

What a long silence from me! Almost 2 months friends don't hear from me. My mum were sick and I had been busy taking care of her and I don't have any time or mood to post up any news. Only close friends of mine will know what happen. But, my mum had lost in the battle and she leave us on 17 Oct 2009 (Saturday) at 3.15pm at the age of 59. Yup, it was on Deepavali. Since then, I had been busy running around for prayers and doing some other things. I really don't have the mood to do anything. But, my son make me realise something. On the second day of my mum death, I sat down at the corner where my 6 years old son were with me. He was busy playing with some clips and when he saw me crying he asked me, "mummy, are you sad"? I just keep quite and did not answer his question. He use his index finger and draw a circle and tell me this, "it's a circle of life". He shocked me by saying that. He is only 6 years old and he is a late talker. Well, like he says IT'S A CIRCLE OF LIFE. I got to move on with other things. Being the eldest in the sibling, I have to be strong.

After, 2 months of being silence let me share with you a nice place in town that you can consider of having a good and cheap buffet lunch during the weekdays. It's only RM18++. Off course, don't expect to have big prawns or exclusive items for such a cheap buffet. It sounded cheap and many of you might ask will this be a good one. They might not have a very wide range of items but if I am not mistaken, they have a salad counter which have more than 10 items with 4 different dressing, 1 rice, 1 noodle, 6 main course and quite a good range of desserts inclusing of ice-cream. I have been there a few times for lunch and they are always pack. Try to make a reservation especially on Sunday lunch. Sunday buffet lunch will be at RM20++.

Red Bean Soup with Dried Alkaline Dumpling

I were suppost to post this when Babe_KL organise a write up on Merdeka Open House 2009 - My Sweet Malaysia. I must also apologise to her because I did not do it on time. However, I still want to share this lovely 'thong sui' which I love - Red Bean Soup with Dried Alkaline Dumpling.

The ingredients

Red Bean - 150g

Dried Alkaline Dumpling - 50 to 80g

Water - 1000ml

Rock Sugar - depending the sweetness you want

Pandan leaves - 5 leaves, tied knot

Note :
cut the alkaline dumpling into small pieces and dry it under the hot sun for few days until it is really dry. Keep it in the container and put them in the fridge. It can be kept for 1 year.

How to do :

Wash the red bean. Put red bean, water and pandan leaves in the slow cooker and cook for about 3 hours. Then add the dried alkaline dumpling. Cook for about 20 - 30 minutes or till it's soft. Add sugar. Off the electicity and it's ready to be served.

This 'thong sui' had been made by my late grandmother. So, I am the 3rd generation serving red bean soup in such a manner.

No Longer The Same - Claypot Restaurant, Penang

Claypot Restaurant that situated at Tanjong Tokong Hillside is no longer the same anymore. They have change management for 9 months already. This is one of our family favourite restaurant. Honestly the food is not that good compare to the previous owner. Anyway, they do provide you the good service but I want my good food!!!!

We did not finish the dish ........................... we don't want to waste the food but the food is no good lor. Even my kids cannot finished their rice.

Recipe - Strawberry Jam

Making your own fruit jam is not difficult after all. Strawberry seem to be everyone favourite. Lately, I see there are lots of strawberry selling at the wet market which is not very expensive. So, I bought some and decided to make some jam for my kids and mum. Btw, this my mum favourite.

Strawberry - cut wedges

Cook with some water and brown sugar in a pan

Let it cool before closing the container. This is what I get

Supper for the kids - Toast bread with butter and strawberry jam

Recipe

500g strawberry, washed and cut wedges

100g water

100g brown sugar (it depends on how sweet you want it to be. If needed, add more)

Method :

1. Put all the ingredients in the pan and cook it on the slow fired. Continue to stir the mixture every few minutes.

2. Cook until it is thicken. This take about 35 to 45 minutes.

3. Once it is ready, off the fired and let it cool. Keep in the container.

Note : There is no presevative in the jam therefore, consume it within 3 - 4 weeks.

What is 3 layer tea? It's a new beverage that sell in most of the Nasi Kandar Shop. Anyway, it is not really new. They have been selling it for almost 2 months ago. Took this pictures when they just started and only now I remember about it.

I were single again for 4 days since yesterday. Hubby is away since yesterday for his business trip. Shiok!!! Yipee..................... Hooooray!!!!! You might say, what a crazy wife. When he is not around, I can do lots of things but the only problem is I am without a personal chauffer for 4 days. KNN. I hate to drive so friends who know me well will never ask me to drive them. If they ask me to go anywhere, they will come over to pick me up. I hate the traffic where you got to stop the car in the jam and with the weather so hot in Penang, I can go crazy.

Bra & Panties Project

Bra & Panties Project??? Is Erina Law having some problems? Nope Nope Nope. Lilian and myself are trying to get some panties and bras for some of the girls that are staying in Shan Home.

Lilian really take her time out and hunting from one place to another to look for undergarments. The kids are really lucky to have her. If I am at her shoes, I will also get lost. Buying something without having the kids around it's difficult coz they are not there to try. We don't dare to take them out just incase they will trying to run away. Then, we will be in deep deep deep shit lor.

So, happen I drop by there yesterday afternoon and I found out that one of the new girl is going to school today. She don't have any bra at all. Shit!!! Paiseh leh. I took a measurement and call up Lilian. Just incase she had got them. When I found out she haven't got them, I told her I will try from the pasar.

I manage to get 2 pieces from the pasar this morning. Afterall, that is the only 2 smaller size the lady has - size 36. I ask the lady, 'wah! besar lar, size 36 wor'? But, when she show me it's not like the 36 one. I think this one is cupless one - not A, B or C or D. She was looking at me with a weird look. So, I told her it's not for me nor my daughter. I told her that I am getting for someone. She was so good tell me that, if it cannot fit I can always take it back to exchange with her. What a good thing to hear from her.

After that, me and hubby met up with Lilian for Tim Sum and she pass me the panties. Now the kids had got nice panties. Thanks Lilian. The kids will definately going ot love it. I will be going over to the home this afternoon again to pass them the undergarments.

A Happy Day For Us and Them

Saturday, 13 June 2009 was a happy day for my family, friends and the kids at Shan Home. Me and hubby decided to organise a BBQ party for them. Eventhougth it was a very simple and small one but all of us have a great evening. I had invited only a few friends including Lilian. Sometimes, not that I don't want to invite more people but I am not sure if they would like to go or not.

I found out about this home 2 months ago from a friend of mine. I drop by there about once a week. It's happy to be there. Shan Home is located at Mount Eskine. From the road side, you will see the signboard - Bodhi Heart Sanctuary. Follow that route. It will lead you to Shan Home. This home is situated at the same property with Bodhi Heart.

Luckily my cousin Miki (the thinner one) and his friend (Surya) manage to come over to give help. Thanks to both of you

You must be wondering where are the other kids picutes. Nope, I am not putting it up here coz they also want some privacy. You can view a short video from Lilian blog.

Kids that live in this home have many hidden story behind. Living far away from parents it's a very painful experience. No one will understand them. Sometimes due to this, kids might give you funny attitute not because they are naughty but they are trying to take our attention. They also want our love too. So, sometimes I drop by to pass them some food and catch up with the kids. There are 18 of kids altogether now.

My friend Sue Ann wanted to organise another BBQ party for them again in the coming school holiday. Yipeeeee...............................................

If any of you want to donate anything to Shan Home, you can also pass it to me too as I will drop by their place at least once a week there. Afterall, Shan Home is very near to my shop.

Finally, Lilian I am happy for you too because your prayer had been answered by God and Mages is there safely with her sister. If you have any other charity project, do keep me inform. I love to help too in whichever way I could.

Penang - Durian Season

Last weekend, we took the kids for round island and we decided to stop by at Titi Kerawang for our favourite fruit - DURIAN!!! We will go to our favourite stall every durian season.

My son is the only one who don't love durian. So, he just enjoy the beautiful scenery

Daddy ordered 1 cocoa for the kids to try. At least they know how it taste. It is a bit soury

Durian ah................................. The owner told me that if the durian just fall down from the tree, it will not smell that good. Knock the durian a few time on the table/ground. It will bring out the durian smell. I see him did that to one of the durian. It work!!!

Mother's Day Breakfast

I got this breakfast surprise from hubby and the kids yesterday morning. It was nothing really special but I am so touched by just a simple breakfast. Hubby is really creative, he make east (toast, fried egg and sausage) and west (satay) breakfast.

I am a person who don't demand for exclusive stuff but simple stuff like this really make me feel great. Afterall, hubby and the kids do it with their love. Hubby, ask the my son and daughter to wish me Happy Mother's Day. Then, each of them gave me a hug and a kiss....................... how lovely!

Penang - Breakfast at Old Town Cafe

My family is a regular customer of Old Town Cafe at e-gate, Penang. We normally take the kids there for a short break. We were told that the new breakfast set is coming and we wanted to try. It is only available on Monday - Friday. They don't serve it on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday. We manage to go there last week to try.

Anyway, all of us enjoy our breakfast. I have to been to a few Old Town Cafe outlet and I find the one at e-gate got better service. My bad experience is at New World Park and BM. The waiter will pretend they did not see the customers.

Father, Son & Daughter

A mum's job is never easy but yet it can be fun and happy at times. Being a mum to 2 kids at the age of 4 and 6, it's a hectic especially if you happen to have a active one. Well, I have 2. As they grow up they can ask you lots of funny and unanswerable question.

Yesterday, hubby were sitting down with them and he started to ask how the cat, dog and cow sounded. Then, later he asked them again how the lion, elephant and horse sound. They are very happy answering the question. So, the question goes on.................... hubby ask them if fish swim then how about birds? How about frog and kangaroo? Suddenly, my little girl ask him, "daddy, how fish eat? Daddy kena trap liau. So, he told her that the fish eat with the mouth. Trying to take her attention away but she insisted daddy showing her how the fish eat. No choice but to show her by moving his mouth, showing her how the fish eat. Another question, "daddy, how fish shower?" Oooo no, this is a question that none of us can answer. So, he explain to her that fish live in the water, no need to shower already. Then, our son said, "must shower one, if not smelly." So, anyone know the answer? How fish shower?

Cupcakes - Rich Chocolate Cake with Fruits

My daughter, Delwina birthday had just pass 2 weeks ago. I always feel happy being able to make the kids something that they like. Btw, my daughter is 4 years old liau. She had been telling me that she wanted chocolate cake with strawberry. Everytime when I try to brain-wash her with other cakes she will still tell me she wanted Chocolate Cake with Strawberry. Aiyoh!!!! Finally, I told her that I will put some grapes (one of her favourite fruits) and pineapple apart from strawberry. She agreed........................... kids are hard to deal with nowadays. Parents also learn well in the negotiation skills. hahahahaha

Recipe : Lemon Cake

About 2 weeks ago, my customers (a group of youngster) drop by to pick up some ingredients that that need to bake a Lemon Cake. They got this recipe from the Australian Women Weekly book.

The next day, they came to see me with the cake that they had baked. They want to know what had gone wrong. Honestly, the cake smell great. I take a look and I smile to them and tell them, 'your cake is not cook yet'. Without making them dissapointed I actually take a piece and eat. Yup! I eat a cake that is not cook yet. Well, being a cook we have try it so I will know what could be wrong. In fact, I ask my staff to try it. Not that I want to make them happy but at least my staff will get to know what happen. He learn at the same time. Now I can tell them what had gone wrong with their cake after I had tried making it. Nothing wrong with the formula or recipe from the book. If you are reading my blog, this is what gone wrong with your cake :-

1. Your cake is not cook like what I had told you earlier.

2. The temperature that you use could not be right.

3. You did not mix the batter well which mean you did not follow the instruction correctly too. You put in all the flour and milk at one time!

I had tried the cake. Came out fantastic and I love the cake, not only the result but also the taste. Anyway, I love lemon!!!

I had also given a minor change to the cake. Let me share with you the recipe from my customer. Oh ya, I ask them if they can give me the recipe so I can try to make sure the formula is ok.

Don't this cake look good? I can't wait till the cake is cold. After it come out from the oven about 20 minutes, I cut and get my staff to try. We love it except my hubby. He is not a lemon lover. Nevermind, I can share it with my staff . Less man more share!!!

Here is the recipe

125g butter, softened

2 tsp grated lemon rind

250g castor sugar (original was 275g)

3nos eggs

230g flour (original was 225g self raising flour)

1tsp baking powder

125ml milk

1/4cup lemon juice

Method:-

1. Line a 9in round cake tin.

2. Beat butter and sugar till light and fluffy. Add egg 1 by 1 and mix it well. Add flour, baking powder, milk and lemon juice in 3 batches. Mix well. Add lemon rind.

3. Pour into the pan and bake for 50 -60 minutes or till cook at 170C. Let the cake cool down for about 5 minutes before turn it on the wire rack.

Note : This cake had got some soury taste due to the lemon juice. However, it had got it's unique taste. If you a person who love baking, give it a try and be adventures!!!

My advice when doing your cooking or baking. Never rush. Read the instruction clearly and do it with love. Don't do it for the sake of doing. Fail does not mean you are a bad or stupid cook/baker. Try it again and this time do it carefully. If can, try to ask for advice. I know that some people don't like to ask for advice. What's wrong asking? Sometimes, I even learn from young baker - I even learn things from my son who is only 6 years old.

Help With Love

Lilian will be helping up in cooking for the poor and homeless today with her group of church member. One thing I admired her is she help without picking on the skin color or religion. You are black, white, yellow or whatever color your skin is she will help if she can. You are buddist, indian, christian or islam she will also help. Lilian, in future if you needed any help whether in the kitchen to wash or cook do let me know. If you need people to buy ingredients you can also let me know. I can ask some of my supplier to send the goods to my shop and I will send it to where you want it to be - your house, church or any of your friends kitchen. Should have help you to get the chicken from my supplier. Then, it will be much easier for you . All the best to Lilian and her team.

Tamarind & Sour Plum

Sour Plum - it can eaten like this or it can be added in our drinks. Infact, you can get this drink from the local kopitiam. Normally the pregnant ladies like to eat this. Apparently this sour plum help the pregnanat ladies from vomitting. Anyway, it does not help me during my pregnancy.

Tamarind - this is a fresh one. It can be eaten like this. When it's eaten fresh the taste will be different. Once they had season it with salt, that is meant to use for cooking. It was my first time eating this yesterday which was given by a friend. To me, it taste better than sour plum. You can get it from the wet market.

Home Cook Food Is Always The Best

Nothing is better or maybe tastier than home cook food. I don't claim that I am the best cook but as long as my family are happy with the food I am preparing, that is consider good. My son love my pastry, my daughter and hubby love my cooking. No complaining means food is good, rite? Since economy is so slow and I don't feel like eating yesterday. Normally, on my off day I am very lazy to move around. Most of the time, I will stay at home............................

Yesterday, I make something very simple for my family. Very simple........................ but yet it was nice and special.

Steam white profet with mushroom, beancurd and tomato. Add in some sour plum to give it a better taste. This is for the kids.

Assam Prawn (Prawn cook with Tamarind) for me and hubby. It's hubby favourite.

I always love to have vegetables during meal time. I bought some 'choi sum far' (sawi). Cook it with some boiling water and served with garlic oil and soya sauce. Hubby like the vege to be served with garlic and I like mine to served with meat floss. So this is what I do. Don't you think I am so smart to serve the vegetable with 2 flavours?

Last week, a friend of mine drop by my shop and we went over to Coffee Island for lunch. It's my first time there. Honestly, I love this place. This place had been operated for almost 4 months already.

In Coffee Island, you get to choose either to sit outside where you can enjoy the natural air or you can sit indoor to have the cool air from the air-cond. There is also a small corner for customer to surf net. If not mistaken, it's free of charge.

I ordered Iced Forest Fruits Tea (RM5.50). It's good. Refreshing

My friend ordered Honey Lemon Juice (RM4.90) which she said not too bad either

For myself, I had ordered Cheesy Chicken Chop Rice (RM10.50)

We realise alot of customer ordering bread. So, we decided to order 1 to shared. Steam Bread with Kaya & Butter (RM3.60). Nothing really special except that the bread is soft

The total bill come to RM35.20 inclusive of service charge.

Overall, we find the food is quite good and reasonable. A recommended place to unwind after a hard day of work. Also suitable for business discussion. They have a wide range of local food too. You can find other famous local hawker food - which name after them. For example what my friend had ordered, Dhoby Ghaut Fried Mee.

Few days ago, me and hubby took a friend from Melaka to dine here. He love this place too. Cozy and relaxing.

Bali Hai Seafood - Are Outside Food Clean?

Once awhile me and hubby will go for tim sum after we drop our kids in the nursery. As usual, today we went to Bali Hai Seafood at Gurney Drive for tim sum. We normally go there too because it's located not too far from my shop.

Loh Mai Kai (glutinous rice with chicken & mushroom) is one of my favourite. So, we ordered 2 loh mai kai. While enjoying the timsum and talking to hubby suddenly, I found a fly in my food. Yuks......................... eeee................................. nmch. Wtf is this!!! Hubby called the person in charge and when he told him about it, she just smile and then she said they will not charged us the loh mai kai. So, she use her pen to cut away the order in the chit and just walk away. MCH, I don't want free food. I can afford for that. She did not even say sorry about it.

Never thought that a restaurant like Bali Hai Seafood is so unresponsible. When, hubby go to the counter to pay, he mention to the lady boss. She act like nothing and did not even apologise for the incident. Food is so so in Bali Hai but where is the hygiene? Where is the cleaniness? That show, how clean the kitchen is and how hygiene the workers are too!!! So, do think twice if you want to go to Bali Hai to dine. I am so dissapointed with them. This place use to be one of our favourite restaurant but now.............................................

Back To Old Kitchen

How the old folks back their cakes that required top and bottom heat? Back at my grandma and mum early age they do not have oven that have this special feature - top and bottom heat. But they still can make their cakes and kuih with this method.

Few months ago mum show me how it was done after she had not do it for so so so long. She showed me by making kuih ubi kayu.

The chacoal that are burning should only have small fire.

See........................... It's took about 40 minutes to cook.

It's ready. The middle is slightly burn because I did not spread the chocoal evenly on top.

Kiddie Birthday Cupcakes

My son's birthday had just pass few days ago and since this is his last year in kindy, I make him some special cupcakes for him to share with his buddies. For his classmate, I make extra one for them to pack back in a small little box. I asked Delwin what cake he wants me to make. He kept on telling me apple cake. Aiyoh!!! After thinking for a couple of days, I decided to make him apple carrot cupcakes with cheese frosting. Most kids love cheese.

Kids are not too difficult to satisfied them. Just a small cake, they are happy with it. The school teachers told me that the cakes are all finished up. I make a total of 120 cupcakes to feed more than 50 kids. As long as they happy, I am happy too!!!

How is the economy doing? I guess that is what everyone is discussing and talking about. Everyday, we hear so much about it and who don't get worry?

Few weeks ago when I went back to my hometown in Taiping, I were told by my aunt and cousins that there is this place visited by hundred of people everyday near Tesco Kamunting. They told me that people go there around 7pm to touch the wildboar. *blink eyes*

Cousin : You will see some buses park along the roadside. People from KL, Penang and Johor

also come. Some even come from Singapore.

Me : Go there touch wildboar for what and why at 7pm leh?

Cousin : Go touch the wildboar to get good luck. Some strike 4D. The wildboar at the Indian

temple near the hillside. When it's praying at 7pm, they will ring the bell and all this

wildboar will come out. People will feed them and touch them.

Me : Wildboar wor? Can bite people one leh. No scare meh?

Cousin : The wildboar over there are not wild. Some are friendly too. You want to go and see?

Me : Sure or not? I see hubby want to take me there or not.

Cousin : I know you kepo one, go and have a look lar. No suddenly, Kamunting become very

popular liau. Over in Aulong, people go and 'borrow pineapple' from the Datuk Kong.

Don't be surprise hor, alot of people also. That area full of buses and cars from

outstation.

Me : Not bad hor, not Taiping become popular liau. Woi! You got go and pray kah? Ada

kena boh?

Cousin : My mum ada kena after pray the Datuk Kong - 'borrow pineapple'. Neh, your cousin

from KL come back for holiday also go there. She kena a few times liau.

Me : Like that, I don't have to work also never mind lar. Everyday go touch wildboar and

'borrow pineapple'.

Cousin : 'Borrow Pineapple' must pay back one, ok? You think what, borrow and not need to

pay. Borrow people thing must pay or not?

So, I decided to drop by this Indian temple to check it out. It's only 10 minutes from my aunt house. After dinner over at my aunt place, hubby agreed to drop me and my mum to see that place. Off course, my kids were enjoying too because they never see wildboar before mah.

Chinese New Year Dishes

It was just like yesterday that we were talking about the Chinese New Year and here it will be ending soon. Time really goes on very fast and that prove, all of us have to appreciate what we have and take every opportunity given to us seriously.

This year, CNY is a very simple and quiet celebration for me. Since my parents are away for holiday that means I don't have to go home till they are back. My brother in law father just pass away before the CNY and they will not be celebrating this festive season. This make everything very quiet without them. So, we just go back to my in-law place to celebrate. Anyway, it's still in Penang.

Therefore, I decided to make things simple too since I have been so tired working. Hubby also agreed that we just cook simple meal at home. Penang island is always pack-up when it's a holiday season.

What we have are really simple. Just enough to feed me, hubby, our 2 kids and share some with my neighbour. Oh yes! I have very nice neighbour. We always share food. During CNY, she will share some of the dishes she cook with me and I will pass her some. Isn't it nice?

Mushroom with Sea Cucumber and Pork Rib. I decorated it with brocolli to make the dish look tastier

Steam Drunken Chicken. Yup, there is wine in it. Lily bud and dates are added to enhance the flavour. My kids love the gravy very much. This is I learn from my late Hainanese grandma

This is hubby and my son favourite soup. Pig stomach with Fsh Maw and Chicken Soup. They just love it. I always add in some carrots, cabbage and button mushroom to make the soup taste even sweeter.

"Ju Hoo Char" (Sweet Turnip fried with shreeded dried squid). Guess this is everyone favourite where you can see them serving in anyone house during CNY

This is a special dipping sauce where we go with the "Ju Hoo Char". Yup, it's my Hainanase grandma secret recipe. All her children and grandchidren know how to do this.

The taste? Salty+sourey+spicy+sweet= YUMMY. hahahaha

On the 1st day of CNY, we normally go 1/2 day vegetarian. I am so lazy to cook so much and I decided to cook only Loh Hon Cai. This one is a different type that you have outside. You can't get this in any vegetarian shop. Again, it's my Hainanese grandma who taught us

The rest of the day, we eat out. Too tired to cook. Afterall, it's only 4 of us. When will all the lazy bugs get away from me???? Today, we will be going back to my parents house to have CNY dinner together. Hahaha............ still not too late mah. Afterall, it's not the 15th day of CNY. I had ordered crabs from my regular seafood supplier. Will cook it tonight!!!

Last 2 weeks, we were here for lunch - Restoran Kolam Ikan. This place had been feature in a few magazines. I always wanted to drop by this place and finally, we were there.

So from here, you know their contact no and business hour ok. This place is located at Sungai Kob. It's about 25minutes from the Kulim Hi-Tech Industrial Park

This is the eating place. Not sure how many people can accept this type of environment but for food lover, we will go anywhere to hunt for good food. Any food lovers agree with me?

Fried fish with 3 flavours - sweet, sour and a little spicy. It was good
Steam fish with special soy sauce and ginger. Forgot what fish is this already

This is good. Simple and nice. Abalone mushroom steam with garlic and dried chillies.

All the fishes are caught freshly from the pond. Pick your fish and they will cook for you. They only sell fishes ok. No prawn, crab, squid and other seafood. Only FISH!!!

This little fishes are told that it need another a year for them to grow before it's ready to sell.

The river is so clean and nice

The best thing during this trip is ................... this restaurant is open by one of dad old buddy son. His son used to come over to our house so often during our childhood time. So, I got a free meal for that day. He insisted that this meal is on him since he had not see me for so looooooooong. Feeling so paiseh. Thanks to you Yue Kor Kor. Yup, that's how I used to call him. In fact, he is already a good cook when he is young. I will surely go back again for some other different type of fish but I will pay the bill liau. No more free food.

Visiting A Village

Few weeks ago, we just stop by over a small village as we were on the way to somewhere. The purpose of us stop over is to show our kids what is village look like and suddenly we spotted something and the 2 kids got so excited.

My little girl got so excited when she saw the chicken. She keep telling us things about the chicken.

Both of them stand there for more than 10 minutes and they were really having so much fun looking at the chicken.

What did he tell the chicken??? Don't you think both of them are communicating? In real fact, my son is afraid of chicken because of the claw.

Well, we live in the city and it's real difficult to see like this. Even though we stop by for less than 20 minutes, the kids are really enjoying themselves.

Magadascar 2

Magadascar 2 will be coming and the toys are available at McDonalds for sales. Hubby pick up 2 yerterday for the kids - a zebra (Marty) and a lion(Alex). The zebra is for our son and the lion is for our girl. Later at nite, hubby took out some paper and ask the kids to bring their new toys to him. Apasai har???? Anyway, I don't bother and continue with what I were doing in the kitchen. Then, he ask his son .......................... nice or not. And they kids shouted wah.....................

Later, my son took the papers to me asking me to stick it on the fridge door. I am impress too with what hubby had draw. Anyway, he is a better artist than me. That is why my son love to draw alot. Like father, like son.

We were again at Edmity Claypot Restaurant few days ago. Hubby love their dishes so much and he suggested that we go for dinner again.

Pedicure

It's always feel great to enjoy ourselves with something nice after a hard day of work. Few days ago, I went over to my beautician and tell her I need to have a facial and massage. So I go for my massage first then end it with a facial. Later she ask me if I would like to have a pedicure. Honestly, I had not been doing pedicure for a very very long time. Still remember those days where I will do have my pedicure and medicure at least once a month. But, those were the days lar................... Well, since I am quite free for that day - why not? Yup, have spend quite a lum sum there. So, when I get home I must know how to claim from hubby liau. Must know how to tone my voice liau. Wahahaha.............................

Nice or not. I like the flowers that the lady draw on my toes.

You guys must be wondering did I get a lecture from hubby or not for spending so much. Woi!!! Surprisingly, he did not say anything and just ask me to take the money from his wallet. Am I dreaming??? Something wrong here? I wonder ...........................

A friend of mine send me an email regarding banana. Woi!!! It's about the fruits, wokay. Not the banana that belong to the man one. Not many of us really know the benefit of eating banana but I think this would be a great info to share with all of you.

I have been super duper busy lately. I have lots of food photos in my camera which I had yet to download to my PC. During the day time, I am so busy with my shop business where I have lots of Malay customers that walk in to buy their baking needs. By the time I close the shop, I am so tired and do not want to do much stuff. Yesterday, after I had close my shop hubby suggested that we go for a home cook food. Yup, dinner on him. Wahahahaha.......................

They are wondering what had gone wrong with me that make me so quiet for such a long time. Well, I have been very busy with work. Yes! Work, work, work and more work for the pass few weeks. Special Gift

Kenny Ng just came back from Dubai about a week ago and today we are having a lunch date. Yes, lunch date ............................ :-) He will be leaving back to Dubai on Thursday. Meeting up with this man is not easy hor. Got to make appointment with him few months ahead one. Super duper busy and important man. hehehe................... When did I make my appointment to see him? Wow that was about 5 months back during our last meeting up in February 08.

During our last meet up, he told me that he will bring back some sand for me. I were wondering how is this man going to steal some sand for me..................... *scratch head*. So, during our lunch date today, he pass me a box.

Hubby and my youngest sister love pig stomach soup alot and for me, I don't like it! Since they have been asking it for sometimes, I decided to boil it for them. Just for the sake of 2 of them!!! This soup don't come cheap too. A pot will easily cost me about RM70.00.

When hubby found out that I am boiling this soup, he asked me to buy some Yau Char Koay for him. He said it is very good to go with yau char koay. My answer to him is. 'you gila kah? Where got people eat like this one?' He said that how he saw one of the stall in Singapore serving it. So, I bought some yau char koay and later when my sister tried it, she said it's good. Maybe, you want to tried it yourself and let me know later.

Hubby were away on a business trip for a week. Apa lagi???? I become single for a week. Wahaha....................... Off course, I am having lots and lots of fun but at the same time feeling sad too. No personal driver to drive me around. No walking atm with me. I hate eating alone too. Luckily, my youngest sister is back for a holiday. So, yesterday I took my sister to Parkroyal Hotel for a lunch at Cool Bananas. Nice name leh............................. wonder why they call it cool bananas? Hmmmmm......................

See the plastic bananas? They are lots of deco using bananas inside the restaurant. There were quite a lot of customers inside so, we got to sit outside.

We ordered a pizza. Choose 4 of your favourite filling. They will have a list for you to pick. We got share this. How does it taste. I will say it was great. We pay RM39 for this pizza. It's a crispy base. We have choosen tuna, smoke turkey, pineapple and mushroom. Some might say that I am so stupid to pay this amount for this pizza but the food is good leh. Hey, this is not the road side pizza I am talking about leh. The 2 of us really enjoy it.

How much do you think I pay for this 1 slice of Chocolate Truffle Cake that come with a scoop of Haagen Dazs? It's RM28!!! RM28 for a slice of cake and a scoop of ice cream wor.................... BUT the cake tasted so great. I will say it's worth for the price. It's really yummy. If I have the chance again, I will be back again but this time I must bring along my walking atm.

People will pay RM50 for 1 durian, RM70 for lobster, RM50 for a small bowl of sharkfin soup and why can't I pay RM28 for a slice of cake that tasted so good? You don't eat that everyday rite? Off course, I can't afford to eat that everyday too. But, in life we want to experience certain things mah.

Lum Mee

Lum Mee is actually quite similar to noodle soup but in Lum Mee they give you lesser soup and the condiments given are different too. The condiments are such as chicken meat, meat ball, fish ball, sliced fried egg, fried onion and sambal. My father in law make good lum mee and I learn it from him. Moreover, hubby loves this very much. Well, another way to the man heart is thru his stomach.

This type is for hubby, my sister and myself. My sister was trying to be funny and ask me, 'cheh why the egg got red and yellow color only? Where is the green color? Then, it will look like a traffic light................' Niamah. Cook for her lagi talk so much.

This is for my kids. Don't it look lovely with the smiley star fishball?

Recipe for the soup

3 pcs of drumstick

1kg of chicken bones

2 liters of water

salt & pepper to tasting

2 tbsp cornflour mix with some water

1. Place the drumstick, chicken bone and water in a pot and boil for about 1 hour.

2. Then, take out the drumstick and remove the meat. Put the bone back to the pot and let it cook. Add salt and pepper to tasting.

3. Then, mix in the cornflour mixture to slightly ticken the soup. Not too much otherwise you will have starch instead of soup. A little bit of the cornflour mixture is to make the soup taste smooth.

Other ingredients (below items are depends on how much you want to consume. So, buy according to the number of person that you will be serving)

Yellow Noodle

Bihun (Rice Noodle)

Fishball/Meatball

Sambal

Fried Shallot

Shreded chicken meat from the drumstick

Some slice fried egg *

*Slice Fried Egg

2 to 3 eggs

a little red colouring (optional)

Method

1. Beat the egg and add some colour.

2. Pour some oil in the pan and put some egg to fried with low heat.

3. Then slice it.

It's just like the normal way we cook our noodle soup. Put the noodle in the hot water and toss it a while. Put the fishball or meatball in the boiling water to cook. Then, place all the things in a plate/bowl. Pour some soup and serve it with some sambal.

Lum Mee is also known as Birthday Noodle too. Don't ask me why ok?

Well, my mum is a good cook and loves all of us very much. Whenever we go back, she will take the trouble to go to market early in the morning to shop and cook good food for us. Even thought, I am already in my early 30's but I am always a young girl to her. *face red*

I got an email from a friend and I would like to share it with all of you.

TRY 100PLUS & WATER - NOT PANADOLDON'T TAKE PANADOL AND PANADOL ACTI FAST AND PANADOL SOLUBLE especially if you have gastric problems.

FYI... One real story from a friend....My husband was working in a hospital as an IT engineer, as the hospital is planning to set up a database of its patient. And he knows some of the doctors quite well. The doctors used to tell him that whenever they have a headache, they are not willing to take PANADOL (PARACETMOL). In fact,they will turn to Chinese Herbal Medicine or find other alternatives. This is because Panadol is toxic to the body, and it harms the liver. According to the doctor, Panadol will reside in the body for at least 5 years. And according to the doctor, there used to be an incident where an air stewardess consumes a lot of panadol during her menstrualas she needs to stand all the time. She's now in her early 30's, and she needs to wash her kidney (DIALYSIS) every month. As said by the doctor that whenever we have a headache, that's because it is due to the electron/Ion imbalance in the brain. As analternative solution to cope with this matter, they suggested that we buy 1 or 2 cans of isotonic drink ( eg.100PLUS), and mix it with drinking water according to a ratio of 1:1 or 1:2 (simply,it means one cup 100plus, one cup water.or 2 cups water).

Me and my husband have tried this on several occasions, and it seems to work well. Another method will be to submerge your feet in a basin of warm water so that it bring the blood pressure down from your throbbing head. As Panadol is a pain killer, the more Panadol you take, the lesser would be your threshold for pain (your endurance level for pain). We all will fall ill as we aged, for woman, we would need to go through childbirth. Imagine that we had spent our entire life popping quite a substantial amount of Panadol (Pain Killer) when you need to have a surgery or operation, you will need a much more amount of general anesthetic to numb your surgical pain than the average person who seldom or rarely takes Panadol .. If you have a very high intake of Panadol throughout your life (Migraine, Menstrual cramps) it is very likely that normal general anesthetic will have no effects on you as your body is pumpedf ull with panadol and your body is so used to pain killer that you would need a much stronger pain killer, Morphine?? Value your life, THINK b4 you easily pop that familiar pill into your mouth again.

What do you think now??? I am a person who have migraine but I never want to take Panadol when it attack me. In return, I just have a cup of warm water and take a break for a while. My aunties (in fact all my dad sisters are nurses) do not encourage us to take panadol too. Why not give it a try on 100plus the next time if you have got an headache. Is there any doctors or nurses out there to comment on this?

It's not that I am afraid of death. Everyone will have to go thru that one day, just a matter of time but love our health. Going thru dialysis is a very painful thing. I have seen people experiencing it. Very very painful. Mei Leng, if you are reading this - stop taking panadol liau har?

There are lots and lots of laksa and hokkien mee (prawn noodle) in Penang. Anywhere you go, you can easily find the laksa and hokkien mee stall but are they good? That is the question, rite? For holiday makers, most of them will visit stall at Gurney Drive and Lorong Selamat. That are the popular spot. Everytime, when our friends come from outstation without fail they must have this 2 type of food apart from Char Koey Teow.

Normally, we take them stall that are not know by many people from the outstation. Off course, these stalls are serving good stuff. One of the good laksa in Penang is located at Balik Pulau. It's not located in the town. This is at the residence near the fishing village. I guess most Penangnite know this place. They only open on Saturday and Sunday. However, it is save to call before you go.

Lots of fish meat in the laksa but some people do not like it. It depends.
They also serve hokkien mee. The soup is sweet coz they used alot of prawn shells. Don't forget they are living at the fishing village.
As you go in you will pass by a riverbank and lots of boats park by the side.

As you turn into this house for laksa and hokkien mee, you will see a malay stall that sell laksa too under the pokok assam (tumeric tree). Most of them call this stall Laksa Pokok Assam. Do drop by to enjoy a bowl of laksa. This is a different taste. It's a malay style. The best part is - self service. It's RM1/bowl. The man will give you a bowl and you do the rest of the stuff yourself. Put how much of noodle that can fit into your bowl. Cut the onion, chillies and cucumber by yourself. Stuff the ingredients to the maximum, pour in the soup and you only pay RM1. Don't it sound fun? We took our friends there the last time and he enjoy it. This stall is near a river and it's cooling too. Fun....................... that's all I can say.

Since is going to be a holiday tomorrow for Penangnites, do check it out if you haven't been there before.

Corn Soup

Weather was quite hot few days ago and today it rain like nobody business pulak. Nowadays weather is very hard to predict.

Normally, I don't boil soup when it's raining day. I rather cook something spicy. What to do? I have got all my stuff ready and I want to cook them for my kids. This is a good and simple soup to prepared.

Ingredients

Pork rib/lean pork/chicken 500g

Potatoes 4nos -cut cubes

Carrot 2 nos - cut cubes

Corn 3 nos - break into 3 pieces

Water 2liters

Method :

1. Put the meat/chicken in the boiling water for a few minutes to rinse away the dirt.

2. Put all the ingredients in the pot and boil for 2 hours with medium fire. You can also put that in the slow cooker - but cook it a big longer, about 3 hours on slow.

3. Then, season it with salt and some light soya sauce.

4. A nice bowl of hot and good soup is ready to consume.

Potatoes and pork meat
Carrots and corns. I have used the pearl corn in my soup.

Anyway, born in the Cantonese family SOUP and DESSERT are very norm. Since young, I have soup for my meals almost everyday. Sometimes ago I had read on some articles talking about carrots and corns.

Carrots - source of beta carotene. Research from USDA saying that carrots helps in lower down cholesterol level too . Beta carotene is linked to reducing chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Good source of vitamin A too.

Corns - it's also called maze. Rich in proteins and carbohydrates.

Potatoes - Good source of vitamins. A medium-size potato (3 per pound) provides 1/3 the vitamin C recommended daily for an average adult. Potatoes also supply thiamin, niacin, iron, carbohydrates and small amounts of vegetable protein. Potatoes are low in sodium, virtually fat free and easy to digest. It said that potatoes are highly acceptable in almost any diet. Any comments???

Where To Buy Fresh Fish?

Where to buy fresh fish in Penang? I found out about this place few months ago and all I can say is - their fish is absolutely FRESH. Price is reasonable. The fishermen boat come back about 2pm and after they have clear their stuff, they will open their stall around 3.45pm to 4pm. They open everyday. It's located at Jalan Tanjung Bungah. If you are coming from Gurney Drive area, drive up to Paradise Sandy Beach Resort. Go further up and you will see Maxim Cake House. The stall is just opposite. For those who do not want to walk across, you can drive further up till the traffic light and make a turn back. The stall is also near to Tejani Clinic. There are lots of people who buy here. I go there at least twice a week to buy my seafood.

There are lots of choices but it also have to depends on the weather. Fish, prawns, crab and squid. All are fresh.................
They also help those customers to clean the fish. He is a very nice man.

Ever since I buy my seafood from here, hubby had been commenting that the fish he eat outside is not so nice. Last week, when we were at my parents house he told my mum that the fish from the market not so nice one. He tells her that next time when we go back, we will pack for her. Even my dad had reminded me to buy 2kg of kembung when I go back this weekend. He want to BBQ wor.

Do give it a try at this stall and I am sure you will go back again. Off course, there are also other stall but I am not too sure where it is. The others I had heard off is at Sungai Dua and Batu Maung. Anyone want to share where they buy fresh seafood?

Wanna Play Masak-Masak

It was my birthday 2 days ago. Ok, ok, don't have to remind me that I am getting older liau. *sad* How old am I??? Normally, a lady age is a secret. Well! That is what most people say but to me, age does not mean anything. Me.............. born in the year of rabbit so, I am 33 this year.

I were quite surprise of what hubby had got me this time. He said he had given me alot of things but this year he wanted to give me a surprise. Oh man!!! When he handed me the gift, he ask me to give it a guess what was it. I name him a few and he say I were totally wrong. Cheh............. somorehor, he show is lansi lanyong punya face. I gave up and started to open my gift.

Making Dodol

Making dodol was fun. I had asked my mum about this long time ago. Few weeks back, I went back to my parents house and suddenly mum ask me, you want to make dodol moh? *give her a funny look face* Today kah? Now? She say now lar, aboh bila? Aiyoh! Drove her out and pick up the ingredients. One condition, she is not going to use gas stove. She say must use charcoal. Alamak, marci (mother)!!! Ok lar, no choice. That means we got to sit down there for hours to cook that.

Mix all the ingredients together and stir.

Must keep on stirring it.

This is still at early stage.

Add in the durian flesh. Yum yum

Stir , stir, stir.................

It's thicken already. This is already 2 hours of cooking.

It's ready after 3 1/2 hours of cooking.

It's really tiring but honestly, I do enjoy it. After it cool down, I roll them up with plastic. Forget to take some pictures. Mum gave some to her neighbours and hubby gave some to his friends. Will I make it again. YES, I WILL.

Here is the recipe that I want to share with you :

1kg of glutinous rice flour

2.5kg of coconut milk

1kg of gula melaka (if you are adding more durian flesh, do cut down the gula melaka)

2 no of durian (use only the flesh)

Method :

1. Mix all the ingredient together and cook about 1/2 hours. Do not stop stirring.

2. Add the durian flesh and continue to cook for 2 1/2 - 3 hours.

3. Let is cool and wrap it with plastic. Then, put them in the fridge.

Note : The mixture will become thick after 1 1/2 hours but it's not ready yet. Make sure you stir till the bottom of the wok.

Puzzle Time......................

Are you a person who enjoy playing with puzzle? I used to love it when I am very young. Nowadays, not that I don't love it but it takes up lots of my time. Most important you got to have lots and lots of patience. Guess my son got this from me ................. he loves to play with puzzle since he is 4 years old. Now he is 5 liau. He started with 5 pieces then move on to 12, 20 and now the latest is 150 pieces. The beautiful part is he can do it quiet fast. I enjoy seeing him playing with puzzle. He will sing as he play with it.

They Need Our Helping Hands

A friend of mine, Josephine told me there is a children handicapped centre that I can help in whatever way I can. Few weeks ago, I drop by this centre and it was a Sunday so they were close. They only open during the weekdays.

Finally, today I had make an effort to drop by there in the afternoon. I had been making a lot of noise at hubby ears asking him to take me there. Well, I can go by myself but since he say he would also like to go so I keep on reminding him lor. By the time, we were there the kids are all gone home already. They start school at 8am and finished at 12.30pm except for Friday where the class end 1 hour earlier.

You can also support a kids at RM600/year.

For those kids who are poor or their family are having financial problem, the government will support each kids with RM600/year. Yes! only RM600 which is RM50/month. This money will bank into their personal account. Btw, with RM50/month what can they do? I really do not know. When Khatijah, the principal told us about it, we were shock. Currently, there are 70 kids at this centre ranging from age 4 - 17. 1 man had been send to the moon with millions of dollars without a good reason. Can't they use the money to help the needy one. Use that millions of dollars to help the poor or the needy one lar rather spending it like that. 1 man happy but millions of people suffer.

A workshop called JOBLINK is formed together with the Rotary Club Penang to catered jobs to the youths with disabilities. It provides on the job training and handles contract work which helps them to master work skills and also earn an income as well as give them a sense of achievement and independence.

The market is facing a big riverbank. Quite clean too. As we drive out, a stall attracted me with one of their item - APAM MANIS SEPASANG (sweet pancake pair OR a pair of sweet pancake).

I ordered a bowl of Instant Koay Teow Soup and hubby ordered Loh Mee. I am a person who is very picky about koay teow. I like it smooth. Guess what? This stall have what I wanted. The taste is great too. It's a place that you should give it a try.

Kedai Kopi Seng Thor, Carnorvan Street. (nearby to Komtar) Ask around when you are at Komtar area if you are not familiar where is Carnorvan Street. I called it the coffin street coz there are quite a number of coffin shop there. hehehe.....................

The koay teow soup that I had ordered. RM3/bowl is consider reasonable. It comes with fishball, mincemeat, meat ball and pig liver. You can add egg if you wanted. It's delicious!!!

Loh Mee. Anyway, it's not my favourite. Hubby commented that it was not too bad. I gave it a try and it's taste not too bad. Loh Mee lover can give it a try and tell me about it.

Few days ago, hubby suggested we take the kids to have some fun at this playland in Gurney Plaza. It's situated at the same floor with the cinema. Kids nowadays are very lucky ..........

Abang IS Koey Teow Goreng

This is a famous stall in Bukit Mertajam - Abang IS Koey Teow Goreng. This stall is located just opposite of the Post Office in Bukit Mertajam. Most of the BM folks know about this place.

During my last meet up with Kenny, he also agree that this a good stall to visit. The stall is open during night time. That is our favourite stall too. Their fried koey teow (flat rice noodle) is the wetty type. The praws ................................ FRESH AND GOOD! That is all I can say.

As usual we will order the fried prawns. The gravy is yummy. Is a must to have when we are there.

Guess, I have to becareful on what I am writing in my blog liau. Hubby told me that his friends read my blogs and they told my hubby that my blog is interesting. Wedding Cup Cakes

Last week, I had received another order for wedding cup cakes. It was one of my good friend wedding. The couple had requested for certain things to be done. The theme colours are pink, black and silver.

How do you think about this cake? Yes, I made the hearts all by myself. Clever leh??? Hahaha .............................. After a few days, I had receive good comments from them. Their guests were impress with the cupcakes and infact some of them wanted to take extra back. Luckily, the couple had order 50 extra cupcakes. Some of those who requested are apparently some VVIP leh (Dato, Datin, Tan Sri ect). *wink eyes*

What is going wrong with some of these human in Penang har??? No work to do kah? A few friends had called me up earlier during noon time warning me not to go around Komtar area coz their might be riot. Aiyoh!!! At first, I am also like 5XMom - tarak percaya but later about 2.45pm, my cousin who is happen to be in Komtar called me up told me that there are some people buat kacau at Komtar.

I hardly do blogging at nite because ......................... I am very lazy, wanted to take a good rest after a hard day of work and wanted to spend sometimes with my family. That is the only time I can talk with them. This is also the time I will call my mum on the phone and talk and talk and talk for hours at time. Yes, I go back to Kulim every weekend. It's only about 45 minutes travelling from Penang but I do call my mum couple of times a week. When I go back home I can still have lots and lots of story to talk to my mum. Hehehe.................

Beautiful Wedding Cakes

I received an order last week from a couple who will be having their wedding at Lone Pine Batu Ferringhi. It's a garden wedding. Shiok rite? Moreover, it's going to be by the sea. So ........................... romantic. This couple is from Ipoh and they come all the way to Penang just to hold their wedding dinner here. Fuyoh!!!

The bride wanted her cake to be in white but no royal icing or fondant. Therefore, I suggested mousse. After 15mins of discussion, she finally agreed to my idea. She is not a difficult person to deal with. She just want her cupcakes to be simple and nice. The most important things - do not put alot cream. So, I made her LYCHEE MOUSSE CAKE. 50 small cakes and 1 big one. We did not put all her small cakes on the cake tier. Let me show you.........................

There is suppose to be bouquet of white roses on the top cake which they did not put up yet.

This is how her small cake look like. Nice leh. On top, is a petal of white rose which I sprinkle with some satin dust.
Nice and simple. White represent PURE............

I normally will make a few more extra cakes whenever I do something. This is just in case something bad happen and I will have some extra one. After that, I try to play around with the balance one and do some decoration with them. Later, what hapen is ............................. I gave away the cakes to some friends and they love it.

This is the one that I like, with some pink hearts and sprinkle with some silver dust.

Some big red hearts at the side and some gold dusts on top.

Me As A Mum

Belle tagged Huei and now I got tag by her pulak. But you have given my favourite topic. I love kids. Kids that come to my shop will also get special treatment. Sometimes, they are given cookies or vitagen (if I happen to have it) or sweets or chocolate. As a mum, I know what some mothers don't like their kids to have so I will only give them what a mum would love her kids to have. But for my kids, eventhough they are only 5 and 3 years old they will get their punishment if they are naughty. What kind of punishment??? Kena rotan lar............... that if they have been very naughty otherwise they will get some lecture from me. Hehehe..............

But this is what I do at times and here is my conversation with my kids, Delwin and Delwina. Belle, you have seen them before and you should know how active and naughty they can be, rite?

When mummy is free :-

Delwin/Delwina : Mum, I want to watch tv.

Me : Ok

Delwin/Delwina : Mum, I want to go 'kai kai' (go for a walk)

Me : Allrite, let's go

Delwin/Delwina : Mum, we want to mum-mum (eat)

Me : Ok

BUT hor, when mummy is super duper busy this is what will happen liau .........

For my son ...........

Delwin : Mummy, draw picture for me lar

Me : Ask daddy to draw. Daddy can draw you lots and lots of animals. *look for daddy*

For my daughter..................

Delwina : Mummy, I also want to do what you are doing.

Me : Daddy leh? Ask daddy take you go 'kai-kai'. *look for daddy*

The lesson here is .......... as a mum hor, we must also teach our kids to go and look for daddy when we are free. Ahboh then, we mummy also so busy and daddy goyang kaki meh. Not fair rite? When I ask them to go and look for daddy hor, they will go one BUT when daddy tell them to go and look for mummy ........................... THEY WILL STILL LOOK FOR DADDY!!! Hahaha....................

Afterthat, this is the conversation between me and hubby :-

Hubby : Woi! You very smart also hor, everytime ask the 2 monsters to come and look after me.

Me : Smart leh? Because I am their mummy mah. Must learn to be smart also

Get Together

It's always nice to get together with our friends. Catching up with one another and kepoing around. Hehehe............... Ever since Chinese New Year till now, I have not stop meeting up with friends. Friends came back everywhere and we are catching up and updating each other on what happen to us all this while. I did also mentioned I met up with this rocker blogger, Kenny Ng, rite? Horny Angmoh, we did not take picture together wor. Too busy talking but Kenny did take some picture of the food. Not sure when he want to show it to all of you. Just few days ago, a friend just came back from Moscow and we will be meeting up together.

When we meet together, it's not what food we are eating or which restaurant we are going. The most important is the people we are meeting. For my last 'Get Together' we met at Northam Beach Cafe. We pick a table that is near to the sea. I did not manage to take pictures of all my friends but just to show a number of them only. Oh ya! Some of us bring our spouse together. So, all our spouse know all our friends one. Don't think they can do kinky stuff when we are not around as we still have eyes everywhere. Hahaha...................

Polly, apa duk garu garu tu? Happy to see me leh? Woi! When we can meet up together for the Hainanese Promotion at Copthorne, har? Then, the 2 of us can really kepo talking about things.

Both husband and wife are hotelier. Husband is a chef and wife is a sales person. Let me tell you hor, being a hotelier is not easy. Very stress also one when it come to peak season.

This man hor, it's good to know him. Let me introduce you the BEST ARTIST OF YEAR 2007, Kenny Liew. He is the one that help me to crave the 'lanciau'. Mentioning about the name Kenny, I actually have lots of friends who name Kenny also. Let me see ...... Kenny Cheah, Kenny Ng, Kenny Liew, Kenny Ooi, Kenny Lim, Kenny Chan and Kenny Chin. Must be a famous name afterall.
Leng Leng aunties (beautiful aunties). What a sweet smiles!!! The lady in black dress is our mama. That is what we use to call her. She is a very nice lady - loving , caring, sweet, humble and etc etc etc.

After a long silence finally, I am back with my blogging. If you ask me do I miss blogging, YES I AM! Very much leh................ but apa mau buat? I have so much things and work to do for the pass few weeks. If I get a 4 hours sleep every nite, I am consider very lucky liau. During the last week of CNY, I lagi like siau char bor (mad woman). Got to rush for the cookies order, buy CNY stuff for my home and family, clean the house (which I did not manage to finish all) and etc etc. Anyway, it's over now and after this week, I will be slightly free. Tomorrow will be Valentine's Day and also they Hokkien ppl will be busy preparing to pray the Jade Emperor. Again, I have work to do. Buy food, fruits and praying stuff. Wan roast pork? Come to my house...................

On Friday .............................. ahem! I am having a date with the rocker. Who else? Kenny Ng lar!! We will be having a lunch date. All the lenglui who know him don't get jealous hor? Hehehe........ I will tell you what happen hor after our lunch date. Kenny gave me a very confortable way going out with him. Very gentleman hor. If not married sure go after him one. Wahahaha. Time really fly so fast and soon we are going to end the year of 2007 BUT before that all of us are going to celebrate another happy and joyful festive - that is none other than Christmas. This is one of my favourite festive celebration.

Still remember when I were young, I used to follow my aunt and cousin to church. Last few days, I took out my photo album and that bring back some sweet memory. Those were days ............

Apart from the fresh roses, I also place in some dried roses (the one where we used for drinking). So, when someone open this box, they will be able to have a nice smell of roses. So so so refreshing........................

National Service

Soon the new batch of youngster will be going for their National Service. Still remember the last time my youngest sister went for her training, all of us are so worried but after that we find out it's quite good too. Honestly, my sister loves it. She told us that she had learn a lot of things from there but there are also certain sad news that we hear from others camp. Anyhow, I think it's depends on the camp they go and the commander in-charge play a very important role. The one that my sister had at their Kem Millenium, Beranang is very strict. No hanky-panky stuffs are allow. In fact, there is a change in her when she came back. She had become more independent, more careful in things she do and more mature.

This are some memories that I still keep. Me and the family drove all the way to Beranang (in between of Selangor and Negeri Sembilan) to pick her back. We were quite shock to see the place. The campus is really very far far far inside.

I were tagged by Netster. Actually, I am very lazy to a post that is being tagged by someone. No freedom to write wat I want to bullshit mah. hahaha...................... Anyway, I will still do when someone tag me but just a matter of time when I will do it only. Lazy mah like I told you.

Let me make it simple for you to read. 8 facts about me :-

1. I HATE TO WALK UNDER HOT SUN - you can call me puteri lilin if you want but I just don't like to walk under hot sun. Moreover, it's not romantic also mah.

2. I LOVE TO EAT - I enjoy going from one place to another to hunt for good food and later come back and try it out myself. Anyway, I don't like it in a big portion. Too big portion make the food look so cheap.

3. I LOVE LISTENING TO WAVE & WATER SOUND - that is why i always look for cd's that have this soft music. Make me feel so nice and also help me to take away my stress.

4. I LOVE TO WRAP GIFT IN SMALL SIZE - not that I am kedekut, ok? Sometimes, small gift could cost more than a big size gift. It's just because it look so cute.

5. I DISLIKE SHOPPING DURING SALES - silly lady, that is what you would call me, rite? Go ahead. I don't like to do my shopping during sales time because there are so many people and everyone is pushing one another. Afterall, I am not a shopping kaki also. So, that make hubby a happy man. Hahaha..............

6. I LOVE TO COOK AND BAKE - yes, a person who love to eat will learn to cook and bake too. So, I will not go hunger mah. Anyway, one of the best way to the man heart is thru his stomach. Ladies, that is my advise - learn to cook, even simple dish.

7. I LOVE TO GO HOLIDAY BY THE BEACH OR HILL - living in the city is already very hectic so I love stay in resort/hotel that is near the beach or on the hill.

8. Finally, I AM IN THE MIDST OF COLLECTING AND WRITING SOME RECIPES. Hoping that in another 10 years I will complete and able to publish them. I know, I know 10 years is a very long time but I am so busy and to compile and re-do everything are not easy mah. One day, if you do see any recipe book by Erina Law, please support har?

Quick & Yummy Supper

We normally don't have supper but with my sister around at times she will ask me this, 'cheh wat can we have for supper har?' Aiyoh! Luckily she is not like my size otherwise sure have to stop her for eating supper. Hahaha............ Honestly, among the 3 sisters I am the one with bigger size. What to do? I can cook and bake better than them mah. Wahahahaha.........

Few nites ago, as usual my sister was asking me if I can make her some supper and I told her how about pasta with mushroom soup. She gave me a weird look and asking me will that be good. Want to ask me to cook lagi talk so much. That's it, whether she likes it or not it is going to be pasta with mushroom soup.

Boil some spiral pasta with hot water, oil and salt. Drain and keep aside.

Open a can of wild mushroom soup and pour it in the pan. Add 1/2 can of milk and let it simmer. Meanwhile, cut some sausages or luncheon meat and add it in the mushroom soup. You can also fried the sausage or luncheon meat first. It's depends on individual.

Sprinkle some parmesan cheese on top and ready to eat. It really taste great. Yum yum............. My silly sister say she would love to have that again in a few days. Can!!!!! But cook herself. Since it's so simple, she can learn to do it herself, rite?

What Are A Chef To You?

I were on the phone with my friend few days ago and all of a sudden, we begin to bring back old stories about our working life in hotel. Ya, ya, ya! I am a ex-hotelier. Nothing to be hu-har about. Hotelier life is fun and also boring at times. But, what me and my friend were talking about that day is about the chefs. Yes, those CHEFS who think they are the smartest. So, what is a chef to you? And let me share with you what are a chef to us. I am going to make a very simple way of explanation.

To us there are many types of chefs. Here it goes :-

1. COOKING CHEF

Ok! You might say that I am talking nuts here. All chefs can cook mah! You just read on. To us, cooking chefs means he or she can really do their work one - whom can cook deliciously and also having consistency all the time. A good chefs will know their ingredients well and able to accept customers criticism to improve themselves.

2. IT CHEF

IT chef is a person who damn good in using his pc or laptop but cannot handle pan and pots properly. It's true. Don't underestimate this chefs. They can be better than any of us at anytime. What do a IT chef do? Apa lagi? Stick with the pc or laptop all the time lar. Ahem!!! Not that they are doing work with the pc but looking for some other interesting site. What else? Searching and looking at those humsap pictures lar. I no bluff you one. That is what 1 of the chef did when I were in his office. Lagi, he dare to tell me that girl got big boobsss wor........... What were my reaction? I f*ck him no time lar.

3. PAPER CHEF

That is our favourite phrase to many chefs among me and my other colleagues last time. Why? Most of the time they will just sit down in the office and write and write. Don't know what they hell they write. Why we call them paper chef? Very simple, can write but cannot cook. That's simple. Not that they are busy planning or writing recipe but don't know what the hell they write also.

4. HUMSAP CHEF

Ok. No deny men are born to be humsap. But being humsap also must have gaya and standard lar, rite or not? Sometimes, I find this chefs make men look so cheap. Sorry lar for saying that but it's so true. Eyes see, mouth also want to talk ok BUT hands also want to touch, that is too much liau leh. Some sales person who are ladies normally like to wear sexily to visit the chefs during their sales-call. That is purposely one lar. Then, some chefs will off look mah. Aiyah! Free one who don't look, I also will do the same lar. Afterthat, the mouth also open and begin his humsap talk. Later, pretend to put the hand on the should and raba raba. No deny, some sales girl allow that to happen. Why? Because they want to get sales lar. Even this humsap chefs also dare to disturb their own fellow colleagues one.

5. CHICKEN CHEF

There are also chef who are 'chicken' with no balls. They will talk like a loud speaker in front of people but when problem comes, they cabut liau and don't dare to come out to face it. Who will get it? Off course the assistant and the rest of his team lar.

There are more but this are the quite famous one the we normally call them. To me most chefs had got very bad temper. It's true! In front of a customer they are damn so good but at the back of the kitchen ................ fly pan and pots lar. Sometimes plate also. At times, if they are not in the good mood, I pity the subordinate who kena f*ck with no reason. Also, most chefs cannot accept people comments and criticism. It's very very true. I have come across where I told the chef that my customers commented on the dishes and the answer given is, the food is like that already and we are not going to change. Ok lor! Don't change mah don't change lor. If GM ask, I will just answer like how the chef tell me only mah. Apart from that, chefs are very old-fashion at times. They can't accept new stuff. 1 example, have you eaten konnyaku jelly in a hotel? NO RITE? But everyone know about it and most properly our mum had been making it very often too. Chefs always think that they have a good food bible and that's it. They are going to follow it and not going to change. Come on! Technology are improving and so does food ingredients. That is why certain company wanted to hired foodtologist. For what? To improve lar.

Maybe, you could be a hotelier or a ex-hotelier. You can be a non-hotelier too. So, have you come across any chef that you know that have funny attitude that you wish to share?

My Earning ..................

Today, all of a sudden I go and kepo at Nuffnang to see how much I have earn so far (since July till now). Hahahaha............................ very paiseh to tell u all. Only enough to pay for a few friends to eat at hawker stall only. That also kena tekan break leh. How much???? Only RM37.21! Nuffnang will only make a payment when we reach RM50.00. That means I have another RM12.75 before I get to be paid. How long have to wait leh? Last time, I told my sister and hubby, if I got pay fast I belanja them makan. But looking at it now, they got to 'sek cee kei' (eat themselves). I have make my final decision. When Nuffnang pay me, I want to take this money to do charity. My first payment of RM50.00, I want to share it with others too. I know, I know. Some of you will laugh at me. What can RM50.00 do? How to do charity leh with RM50? Nevermind, laugh lor! I will figure a way to do it one. I so clever, sure can keh. Hahaha...................... So, for others what do you do with your first payment from Nuffnang or other advertiser? Share lar abit on your experience.

Mum's Hainanese Chicken Chop

Did I ever tell you that my mum is a mixture of Hainanese and Hakka? Yes, double H's! My mum is a great cook. During our younger time, we normally pack food to school. Everyday, we will have different type of food. See how lucky we are. Now, become the son-in- law lucky time pulak. WHY? I tell you hor...............

Anyway, my mum have only 1 son in law for the time being who is non other my foodholic hubby. Everytime, he will go to my mum and tell her , "ma, very long time no cook chicken chop liau hor or very long time no cook laksa" and his list goes on lar. Then, my mum will do it the next day or the following week when we go back. So, we had chicken chop last week. Her style is different. She will grill the marinated chicken before frying them. The shiok part is she use wood to cook this time. Alamak, like dad tarak beli gas stove itu macam but food cook by wood taste better one leh. Anyway, all of us enjoy the fun of preparing and off course the yummy food too. I don't know what is next he will ask mum to cook.

Any man want to register for my mum son-in -law. I still have another 2 sisters who are still available. 1 at late 20's and there other one is just 19 only. Quick quick quick! Hahaha...........

Hainanese Chicken Chop

Few weeks ago we went back to Taiping to visit my relatives. As usual whenever we are back there, we will go and hunt for food. What is new leh???? hahaha.................... 1 place that I will always try to drop by is this Hainanese Coffee Shop. I have been there since I am a little girl. My kong kong (paternal grandpa) loves to go to this coffeeshop for his afternoon tea. Last time, when we go there, we normally order the pastry but as I grow older I love to eat their chicken chop.

Every time when we make trip back to Taiping, hubby always want to drop by this coffeeshop for a plate of chicken chop and some tarts.

Whenever it's an off day or holiday, hubby will look and hunt for place to eat. He loves to eat and that give me a reason to learn to cook - to be a better cook! Hahahaha.......................

So, last Sunday hubby took us to this place near to Juru Light Industrial for lunch. Lunch in a Kampung (village)! It's was fun and nice. Food was good too.

It use to be 'paya bakau' and there are some small crabs. According to them, that is the maximum size of the crab. The funny part is, 1 side of the claw is big and the other size is very small.

Also lots of this fish and I do not know what are they called.

These are what we had order ................ Fried Kangkong

Looks very simple but it taste good. Lots of squid and prawn too.

Telur Bistri (if I am not mistaken). Fried Egg with minced chicken meat and with some sweet gravy. Recommended by the waitress. Tasty good also leh!

Ayam Masak Kicap

Ikan Masak 3 rasa (3 flavour fish) - sweet, sour & spicy. Should have called it 3's fish mah, rite? Fish is very fresh

Lastly, Nasi Goreng Kampung. There were lots of ikan bilis and squid in it. Taste yummy........

There were 4 adults and 2 kids - it cost us only RM80 include of 2 jugs of watermelon juice. Reasonable price. With the fresh and good food, it's worth that price. Infact, the serving were quite big too to feed us all. No doubt is not like a high-class restaurant but once awhile it's a good place to eat. Leaving in the city is already a hectic so at times it's great to go away to some quiet place to eat.

Both my kids just love it there and they were enjoying themselves so much.

We plan to go back again but this time for dinner because we want to try out their ikan bakar.

Oh......... here come another weekend. Soon the year of 2007 will be over. What surprise me is today, L'abeille and XT drop by over at my shop. They are here coz XT grandma just pass away. My deepest condolences to XT and his family. Very nice couple!!! I love meeting people. That is the reason why I give up my job as secretary to join the hospitality industry as a PR. Talk non stop and meet different people from different part of the world. That give hubby a reason to say that I am a very talkative person.

Another thing ........... XT punya kereta, Nissan XTrail kena kick by a horse. YES, it's true. It happen near The Ship at Batu Ferringhi. I am not sure whether L'abeille will blog about it or not. Another it's not a good experience. So next time if we see horse at the roadside, please go far far har. Don't say I don't warn any of you. Anyhow, I also feel so sorry coz I did not have much time to catch up with her. Normally, during the weekend I am very busy - like a siew char bor (mad lady). hahaha................ nevermind, I trust there is always another time. My apologise to you, L'abeille.

What Sign Is That Please?

Last week, we make a trip to Gerik and half way I saw this sign but what does it mean? I never come across this one leh. I ask hubby and he say, beware of deer. hahahaha................. very funny. Anyone have seen this sign before or I am the 'suapah kau' one. So what sign is this?
